When the battery is weak that multiplexer will turn your lights on and off. Had it happen a bunch on mine first time the battery was weak.

Also 3 years seems like a short life for a factory battery, I suspect you have a charging issue underlying the dead battery. Unfortunately, the best advice would be get the battery and charge system tested.
