Training: From my understanding, weeks 1-4 are at your local yard, 5-7 in Kansas, and 8-remainder of training are at your local yard.

At least at BNSF becoming an engineer is considered a printing and they make more. Lastly, it also depends on how much you work. You can do the bare minimum to keep a job and make less or never lay off and bid busier pools to work constantly and make more. All that said, $300k+ a year seems unachievable as a conductor or even as an engineer.
