In a survival game or a game like tlou, scarcity/durability mechanics make perfect sense and the rest of the game is balanced around it accordingly. In BOTW specifically, esp in the context of other mechanics, durability doesn't add anything to the game and is just a detriment to the player. There are definitely pros and cons of each. I guess all I'm saying is that one isn't definitively better than the other. Myself and others prefer BotW's weapon mechanics and you and others prefer a system more similar to Skyrim's. The weapon durability in BotW isn't a "broken" or "wrong" system. It's just different.
