Hello, so trying to decide what gear oil to put in my old dana 60 rear diff and there are some variables. It's a full float axle so the gear lube also lubricates the rear wheel bearings. It's from a 1975 w200 so I don't know if it has a limited slip differential or needs a modifier but could be wrong? As for diff heat buildup, I'm a firm believer of adding a quality finned cast aluminum cover. Seen enough of the 70s eat up the clutches by not adding enough slip lube. When I service any 70 or 80 min amount is 1 1/2 bottles in the 70 and 2 in the 80.

The owner's manual states "10.1" pints capacity which includes the 10 ounces of friction modifier. This is also the capacity posted in the Geno's Garage tech section. The owner's manual also states to only fill to a level "3/4 inch below" fill plug hole.
