The solenoid I got from this site has the 2 small posts and of course the 2 large ones. The small posts have S by one and I by the other.Jul 19, 2010. #1. think of the 3 wire as a 2 wire because you loop the #2 terminal to the charge stud.. so any schematic for a 1 wire can be converted to 3 wire by addition of a wire from the coil side of the ignition switch thru a 194 lamp to teh #1 terminal on the delco 10/12 si style alt, plus that loop from #2 to the charge stud. soundguy.Does not require a 12 volt coil. I strongly recommed using the 3-terminal 6-volt solenoid on yer 12-volt conversion. Remember, the 1-wire 12-volt alternator needs to be jazzed to about 1800rpms before the internal voltage regulator kicks in. Once in, it will charge at 500rpms.
