Is the carbs date close enough to the build date of the car (and engine) to be considered normative practice or do I need to commence hunting for a later dated carb for the car to be "correct"? New member. I have a 1968 800 with a 345. The Holley carb is a 2 barrel 500 cfm 4412-5 with a date code of 2644. I am trying to get a rebuild kit for it. None of the local parts stores have a listing for it. One of them said it was a 2300 and sold me that kit. The metering plate gasket is wrong and the power valve is totally different.My Holley carburetor horn is stamped with part number 3367 and the date code is 663. If I am reading this correctly, the carb would have been produced in 1966, the 6th month and the 3rd week. Based on your date code of 161 that is a replacement carb. The 161 means 1971, June, 1st week. That is a good carb.
