Greatsword just works for Horizon Walker. If you want to optimize for highest sustained single target damage, you're going to multiclass out of horizon walker at level 5. Whether you multiclass out or not, ranged is going to be better damage. Get sharpshooter and crossbow expert feats, and get yourself a hand crossbow.Using a polearm and haste means you can sprint and teleport around the battlefield freely. Strength based horizon walker is a very fun character. Being able to get reach with a polearm (if you aren't interested in a DEX whip build) is useful to be able to make the most out of Distant Strikes.

Personally, I'd probably build a melee focused ranger. Dueling fighting style for damage, spells such as Zephyr Strike and Ensnaring Strike, and at level 4 get Elven Accuracy. With Zephyr and Ensnaring Strike you can easily proc Elven Accuracy so you can effectively crit fish. Currently a level 8 horizon walker.You could go a bit more interesting perhaps though to capitalize on the Close-range nature of the Horizon walker. Normal Longbow Ranger, Sharpshooter and Archery is fairly self-explanatory.
