I was in the same boat as the person who started this thread and had NO clue how to field strip/detail strip my 1911.Attach a cleaning patch to the jag and apply the solvent. Run the patch through the barrel to remove any remaining residue. Repeat this process until the patches come out clean. Wipe the barrel with a clean, dry patch to remove excess solvent.
