Swordmage in 4e was a defender class, and the 2e magus isn't really set up to be as tanky as a swordmage. Laughing Shadow has the 1-handed fighting style + teleporting of the swordmage, but the durability of the swordmage is kinda split between Inexorable Iron's temporary HP and Sparkling Targe's AC.
