just put the fire right next to the sword. you need to be in position to interact with both the sword and the fire at the same time, then look up to make the game prioritize interacting with the fire. when you load back in, the fire's out but you're in position to interact with the sword, and you can do so before the game finishes loading the proper pull-the-sword sequence.
