I’m in CEE 330 this summer and tests have an online cbtf option so I’ve done it before. It’s really not bad!! You are required to set up zoom on your PHONE and prop the phone up so that the proctor can see your face, keyboard (at an angle) and your desk. So no, they cannot remotely monitor your screen nor look directly at it.

The ones that have CBTF tests are the ones that seem to be exempt from this. I have read the official documentation in the student code, and it seems that CBTF classes should also have to follow this standard. However, the CBTF is not specifically mentioned in the student code. Also, I am not hating on the CBTF. I don't mind it, for the most part.
